“I just want an environment or a collaboration where I can work on projects alongside other tech individuals that want to lab and be technical but don’t want to do it alone or don’t know where to start. But I haven’t found that anywhere…” I trailed off in frustration.
“So, be the change you wish to see in the world. Ask LinkedIn if anyone wants to lab or work on side projects with you,” C said, matter-of-factly.He was right, of course. There had to be someone out there that wanted the same thing I wanted.
And boy was there.
32 women later and I’ve gotten in touch with some amazing ladies who are all looking to gain some technical skills. While most of them are wanting to break into the Cyber Security field like me, all of them just want to be better at what they do, collaborate with like-minded individuals and take the tech industry by storm.
At the moment, nothing is finalized yet, but if you are anyone you’re connected to is interested, I plan to have the first official tech-a-thon in mid-June. There will be a few unofficial ones until then, so be sure to reach out to me so I can get your email and keep you up-to-date on developments and event reminders.
